Dong Zhang is a designer, artist, and AI researcher whose practice moves across design, art, and computation. Rather than treating these roles as separate disciplines, he approaches AI as a material and a tool for creating interactive installations, speculative objects, mixed-reality experiences, robotic performances, and computationally fabricated forms. His work asks how emerging technologies can shape emotional expression, personal memory, and embodied perception while keeping human experience at the center.

As a graduate researcher in Computer Science, his research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence and Human-AI Interaction, with a focus on Affective Computing, 3D generation, embodied interaction, and AI-assisted creative practice. Projects including Shadow Life, FeltSight, Syncret, ExFace, and DreamPrinting span interactive art, haptic mixed reality, AI-authored object design, humanoid robotics, and volumetric 3D printing. His research has appeared at SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, IROS, CHI, and DIS, while his art and design work has been presented at Ars Electronica, VISAP, and Milan Design Week. He received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a minor in Interaction Design from ShanghaiTech University and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science at the same university under the supervision of Prof. Jingyi Yu. He also collaborates with HY-LAB under the guidance of Prof. Yue Zou.
